An Evening to Honor the Stars - Our Nursing Staff
It was truly a "Red Carpet Event” on Friday, Feb. 29, as over 450 people gathered at the Woodland Community and Senior Center to honor Woodland Healthcare’s nurses, past and present. Hosted by Woodland Healthcare Foundation, the 39th Annual Dinner was also a fundraising event with proceeds of $56,000, benefiting Woodland Healthcare for needed medical equipment and upcoming health projects and services.
The theme for the night was an “An Evening to Honor the Stars-Our Nursing Staff” as guests commented on the most incredible decorations they’ve ever seen at the Community Center. Attendees were directed to the event with large search lights in the sky, like seen at the Oscars. They were then greeted at the entrance with lighted luminarie and a lighted red carpet as they entered the event walking through a large, gold, floor to ceiling, five point star! Foundation Trustee
Kay Curtis, who chaired the event said, “Susie Giger is responsible for all the decorations. She went above and beyond what any of us expected and she deserves all the credit.” Curtis added that members Kay Hodges and Amy Conn worked diligently on just the right mix of auction items to make both the silent and live auctions a success for the Foundation.
Foundation President, Ernie Hodges provided the formal welcome stating, “In a room this size trust me when I say there are many important people to introduce, but in the interest of time, I will share that you are all important”. Woodland Healthcare President, Kevin Vaziri spoke about the upgrades and advances that Woodland Healthcare has made in recent years and “how our patient satisfaction scores are better than ever. We are proud of the hard work that our entire team contributes, especially our nurses”.
Executive Director, Colleen Brock, thanked the many donors that made it possible for the over 145 nurses to attend in honor and style. Sponsors for the event included: Sacramento Valley Farm Credit, NVB Bank, Yolo Federal Credit Union, Engstrom Properties, Re-Max Woodland- Don Sharp, The Californian, Andy Gagnon Landscapes, Palm Gardens-Assisted Living, Ullrich Delevati, CPA’s, The Carpet Dealer-Tom Monley, William R.
